Appellate Court Denies Pioneer Natural Resources’ Request to Halt Employment Case

August 26, 2026 — Opinion issued

Ricardo Pumarejo represented Bernardino Villescas in opposing a petition for writ of mandamus filed by Pioneer Natural Resources USA, Inc. in an employment dispute.

Pioneer sought appellate intervention after the trial court declined to grant its plea to the jurisdiction. The company argued that Villescas had not timely filed his administrative complaint under the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act.

After considering the petition, Villescas’s response, Pioneer’s reply, and the record, the Texas Thirteenth Court of Appeals denied Pioneer’s request for relief. The decision left the challenged trial-court ruling in place.
